Dear All,
As of yesterday, Friday, afternoon, our day camp season at Camp Heidelberg came to an end! It was a pleasure welcoming our campers and parents to our beloved camp site during the past 8 weeks. We hope to see all of you again next year.
We could have not done it without the many, many people who supported us. So, a great big 'THANK YOU' goes out to our campers, parents, volunteers, staff, supervisors, leadership teams, and many other who made this camp season one of the most successful ones we all have been a part of. We would also like to thank the Optimist Club for allowing us to spend 8 unforgettable weeks at the camp.
We wish everyone a wonderful week off, and an even more enjoyable fall and school year!
See you next year at Camp Heidelberg! :)
Daisy, Stix, Husky, Lefty, Dyno, Red and Teddy! :)

WEEK 7 COMES TO A CLOSE - ONTO WEEK 8!
Dear All,
Have we said before that time flies - especially when we are having fun?? Well, time is not only flying but zooming by at Camp Heidelberg! This past week we 'navigated nature' at our beloved camp, and we learned tremendous amount about the natural environment surrounding us. We participated in pond walks, nature walks, played amazing games involving wildlife and their habitat, and we even learned about what effects deer population as well. Thanks to our very own 'Stix', this week was a blast!!
Next week we are embarking on a different adventure: we will be playing all our favourite games at the camp as we will be bringing the 2014 day camp season to an end. Games such as 'Gega ball', soccer, 'oh deer', 'huckle-buckle', and many more will be a must! And, of course, what about the campfire and the sleepover on Thursday?? We hope to welcome as many of you possible next week, for the final 'hooray'!! :)
Parents: please let us know how we did! Please fill out - if you have not done so - the on-line surveys our staff have spoken to you about at the sign-in/out tables.
Also, we are looking for 'Y' stories! If you and your camper have had a touching, impactful and meaningful experience at camp, please share it with us. Our aim is to share these stories wits the wider community as we will be preparing for the 2015 day camp season.
Thank you so much for your continued support of our day camp! See you next week, during the final 'hooray'!! :)

...AND IT'S A WRAP FOR WEEK 6 TOO!?!?!?
Dear All,
We hope you thoroughly enjoyed this past week at Camp Heidelberg! Our 'Jr. CSI' themed week showcased riddles, can't tells, puzzles, clues and even the DNA of split peas in pineapple juice! Despite the rain - and perhaps, at times, the unseasonably cool weather - we still have an exceptional time at our beloved camp.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to the parents who support us on a regular basis, to those who participated in the 'pudding challenge' on Thursday evening during the campfire, and to our exceptional staff who went above and beyond to organize and deliver an amazing day camp experience for our campers. Please enjoy some of our special moments in the pictures below.
Next week we are in for a treat! The 'Navigating Nature' week will be lead by our 'Math Teacher / Resident Environmentalist' Stix! We are looking forward to many nature walks, cool crafts, active games, archery and the sleepover! :) With only two weeks to go in camp - and three weeks until school starts again (!) - we cannot stay idle even a minute at Camp Heidelberg! We must take every opportunity to enjoy our camp, learn about nature, make friends and learn about our Y and its five core values. (Do you know what these values are??)
See you at Camp Heidelberg next week!! :)

AND ITS A WRAP FOR WEEK 5!!!
Dear All,
We have come to the end of week 5! The sleepover - attended by 45 campers - was a great success, even though it took us a bit of time to fall asleep! :)
Friday morning, we started the day at the campfire pit, singing new and old camp songs. We also welcomed 'Moose' (Lindsay) from the Stork Family YMCA. She was a great help with our campers who wanted to do craft and board games in the morning. During the same time, we also played Gega ball, soccer, and worked on our archery skills.
After a delicious and bountiful pot-luck lunch - generously donated by our campers and their families - we talked about our Y's five core values (Acceptance, Responsibility, Respect, Health and Caring) and campers had an opportunity to talk about the caring acts they demonstrated during the day. All campers received a red bead for their efforts.
After the enjoying the long weekend, we will continue our adventures. Next week our theme will be 'Jr. CSI' where we will try our hands at detective work, and much more.
We hope you all are enjoying the long weekend. Thank you so much for your continued support of our camp, and hope to see you in the weeks ahead. Please remember: there are only three more weeks left of our day camp season!
