DAY ONE - A SUCCESS!! :)

Dear All,

We had an absolute blast on our first day! We started off the day with two of our former 'star campers' leading camp songs, and games in the gym. Then we headed of to camp for a very busy but fun day.

At Camp Heidelberg we played games, did archery, played basketball and soccer, and learned about values. And, we even watered our garden - a few times, mind you - because the soil is very dry. It's so dry in fact that we could not build a fire today; we had to be safe.

Tomorrow, we will start our campfire cooking with choco-bananas, and later on we will also have the first meeting of the 'Camp Heidelberg Camper Council', which will be made up of campers who will help decide what activities we will do for 'camp wide' on Thursday afternoon (on our Campers - to - Campers day) and what activities we will do on Thursday night, during our campfire.

We are off to a great start; we are all just so so excited to meet new friends, be active, and cook some amazing treats over the campfire.

Below you will find a few pictures from our first day, and our staff training. Enjoy; and visit us often - here, or at the Camp. :)

See you soon, at Camp Heidelberg.

Michael, Stacey, Andrea, Jessica, Paisley, Stephanie, and Laszlo - with our trusty LIA Practicals Tommy and James.

HERE WE GO...MERELY AN HOUR AWAY FROM THE START OF CAMP!! :)

Dear All,

We are less than hour away from starting our 2016 day camp season! :)

The staff - Michael, Paisley, Andrew, Jessica, Stephanie (our LIA counselor), Stacey and I - are so, so excited to welcome our campers to 'The Berg'.

See you all ... in an hour!?

THE 2016 DAY CAMP SEASON STARTS IN .... HOW MANY DAYS???

Dear All,

Today, June 20th, is the first day of summer, and we all know what that means: our 2016 day camp season is just around the corner! Wooohooo.... :)

We just can't wait to get started!

This year we are offering the following themed weeks:

1) July 4th - 8th - 'Campfire Cookout'
2) July 11th - 15th - 'Amazing Race'
3) July 18th - 22nd - 'Fun in the Forest'
4) July 25th - 29th - 'Master Chef'
5) Aug. 2nd - 5th - 'Timer Days'
6) Aug. 8th - 12th - 'Heidelberg Olympics'
7) Aug. 15th - 19th - 'Sports Mania'
8) Aug. 22nd - 26th - 'Heidelberg Record Books'

In addition, we received permission to put in another garden bed at the Camp! Woohoo...to that too! ;)

Our staff training is on it's way. This year we will be introducing a brand new staff team at the camp, and we hope that our former staff members will be able to visit, at least on one of the Thursday nights. (Hint, hint Nate, Jaime, Yvonne, Selina, Paige, and all the other staff from the years before.)

So, in the mean time, we would love to hear from you.  If you have any suggestions or ideas, please do not hesitate to contact us at this e-mail address.  This year campers will be able to get points for visiting the blog, so it will be very well worth it to visit our blog site.

And...

See you soon,

Laszlo :)

AN END TO THE 2015 CAMP SEASON...BUT SEE YOU ALL NEXT YEAR!!! :)

Dear All,

We hope the first day of school has been great for you all.  We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support of our camp.  We had such a great time this past summer, thanks to our exemplary campers - and we are so proud of them - and a special thank you goes out to our parents who have been supporting us in so many different ways.

We would also like to thank our leaders - our teen campers - who were so, so amazing and helpful this year.

Last but not least, a great big 'thank you' goes out to the exceptional staff who made this summer possible.

We would like to take this opportunity then to share with you a few pictures from our last week of our camp.

As for our blog, we will be updating it periodically - at least once a month.  Please check back as often as you can.

Thank you all once again, and, please enjoy the pictures below.

HOW MANY RECORDS CAN WE BREAK THIS WEEK??

Dear All,

After our adventures in the forest, we began our 8th, and final, week at Camp Heidelberg this season! Out theme this week is 'Heidelberg Record Books', and so our campers are encouraged to set goals for themselves, and break either pre-existing records, or establish new ones.

Today, we had Jamie and Nate's group complete a 37 foot leaf-frog challenge with both of their groups participating.  Some campers were working on their basketball free throws, and some of us were looking for the largest critters we could find in the pond.

Isn't he quite the crayfish? :)

How many critters do you see?

Pleas stay tune for more updates later on this week.

Thank you for your continued support of our camp.

IF WE COULD, WE WOULD STILL BE IN THE FOREST! :)

Dear All,

Week 7 was such a success!  Even though we were expecting rain for most of the week, the weather was very kind to us, and so we could spend as much time outside as possible.

Thank you all for your participation and camp spirit during week 7.  Please enjoy a few pictures from the week.

The newspaper fashion show...aren't they well-dressed? :)

We had some visitors on horseback - but there was no horsing around though! ;)

Our craft on Tuesday! :)

Out of the forest and onto the beach at the pond! :)

And, of course, Schmuck! :)

WE ROLL INTO WEEK 7 - FUN IN THE FOREST! :)

Dear All,

After we recovered from our 'youth fit' week, we shifted our focus to the wonderful natural habitat all around us - our forests, green areas and our pond.  Our theme this week is 'Fun in the Forest', and so we wasted no time at all to enjoy these wonderful spaces at Camp Heidelberg.  The only thing that held us back was the rain, but it we still managed to play tag games in the forest, walk down to the pond to discover insects and other pond animals, had a visit from friends on horseback, and we also played a few water games as well as it was so warm during some of the days of the week.

This evening, Thursday, we are heading back to camp for our second last campfire and sleepover of the camp season!  Can you believe this? We sure can't believe how this summer is flying by, and so we will make sure that our last two days of this week will be filled with as much fun and enjoyment as it will be possible.

Please stay tuned for pictures and videos from our week.

Thank you for your continued support of our day camp,

The Camp Heidelberg Staff Team
