MORE WATER GAMES AND A CRAFT USING WATER COLOURS!

Dear All,

Our second day during our 'Wacky with Water' week at Camp Heidelberg was just as awesome - if not even more awesome (!) - as Monday was.

After a morning show lead by two campers, we did had a visit from our friend Katie from the YMCA-YWCA of Guelph, who spoke about youth gambling awareness.  We played a number of awesome games with her.

We also made an amazing craft using water-based paint, played several rounds of 'Steal the Water balloon', and had an amazing game - or two - of soccer baseball!

In the afternoon we had another giant game of 'Water balloon toss' and we also tried an 'Over - under challenge'.

Please see our day in pictures below.

HOW FAR CAN YOU THROW - AND CAN YOU CATCH - A WATER BALLOON??

Dear All,

'H2O - Water To Go!' week at Camp Heidelberg is on its way! Yesterday, once we got to know each other, we played lacrosse, took part in different types of relays, did archery, and made a name tag medallion.

In the afternoon we played a giant game of 'Water balloon toss'! We had so much fun! Maisum and Elaine were the winners.  Their balloon burst the last, and they both earned over 20 points for their teams!

This week campers are able to earn points for their respective teams for role modelling exemplary behaviour, helping one another, participating in all of the activities, and for respecting our environment.

Stay tuned for the names of the teams campers came up with.  They are very creative!! :)

See you at Camp Heidelberg.

WHAT A FIRST WEEK - NOW, LET'S HAVE FUN WITH H2O DURING WEEK 2!

Dear All,

Our first week at camp was fantastic.  The only draw-back was that it seems to have flown by way too fast!

On Friday we finished up our cooking by making 'Blueberry Orange Muffins'.  We also played European Handball, made a few bracelets using plastic lacing and had a great BBQ lunch.  We would like to thanks our supervisor Alex, and our BBQer extraordinaire - counselor Scott - for preparing the lunch for us.  In the afternoon, we played a great big game of 'Schmuck the Staff'.  Greg, Jess and Laszlo were schmucked ... because their plates were found in the forest.  It's still debatable how well the plates were hidden...uhm, Jessie (!).. but we all had a great time.

Next week we will be having fun with H2O!  Stay tuned for updates about the week here on our blog and at the sign-in / sign-out tables.

See you all at Camp Heidelberg!

WE SANG HAPPY BIRTHDAY IN ... ENGLISH, FRENCH, SWEDISH, SPANISH, GERMAN, ARABIC AND CHINESE!!

Dear All,

Today, we had another incredible day at Camp Heidelberg! We started the day off with singing 'Happy Birthday' to one of our campers, who is visiting from Sweden.  We started off in English, and, well...sang the song again, and again, and again, but of course, in different languages!  In fact, we sang it twice in Spanish!

This is a 'Camp Heidelberg First'! Never have we, in the history of the camp, sing this wonderful song in so many languages!

In what language(s) can you sing 'Happy Birthday', and can you teach us??

The rest of the day was spent playing touch football, making choco-bananas, making an amazing craft using fabric markers, and perfecting our skills at archery.

In the afternoon, we played a huge game of 'Nose Paint Stones', before going back to the Y for a swim.

Please see our day in pictures!  The pictures also include a few photos from the past two days.

P.S.: As us tomorrow morning about our Thursday evening campfire!!

TODAY ON THE MENU - ORANGE BROWNIES! TOMORROW FOR CRAFT - HEADBANDZZZ!

Dear All,

Our second day of the week - and our second day of camp - was so enjoyable! We learned how to make orange brownies over the camp fire, played soccer, made mini camp fires for craft, and had a great game of 'Stones' in the forest in the afternoon.

Tomorrow, we will be making choco-bananas, and will create our very own Camp Heidelberg headbands!

For tomorrow, then, we ask that campers bring a light-coloured clothing item that may be turned into a headband.  Feel free to bring t-shirts, pillow cases or any other material that can be painted on! :)

We can't wait to get started! See you in ... 12 hours or so!? :)

P.S.: Tomorrow, Wednesday, morning we will upload photos from our first two days of camp.  Stay tuned!

WE ARE OFF TO A FANTASTIC START - IT'S CAMPFIRE COOKING WEEK!!!

Dear All,

It's Tuesday, and The 2017 day camp season is already in full swing.  Our counsellors - Paisley, Jess, Greg, Scott, Jessie and Michael - welcomed the first campers to our camp yesterday, Monday.

This week we are welcoming a number of new and returning campers, along with campers from Syria, China and Sweden. We wish a great big Camp Heidelberg 'welcome' to all!

Our day was spent getting to know each other, getting to know our camp site, playing basketball, trying archery - which was enjoyed by all - making our name tags out of wood medallions and learning how to make a fire in the safest way possible!

As a part of our theme-based activities, this week we will be making orange brownies, choco-bananas, apple spice and blueberry orange muffins.  Yumm!!  If you would like the recipe for any of the 'menu' items, please do not hesitate to ask one of our staff.

Our garden is also prepped for the summer! This year we planted three different types of flowers which make the garden bed just spectacular! Stay tuned for the types of flowers we planted.

Lastly, everyone is invited to our Thursday evening campfire.  The 'show' begins at 8:00pm, and will feature a number of our popular and fun camp songs - and maybe even a few skits.

See you all at Camp Heidelberg!!
