WE CAUGHT MANY A POKEMON!! :)

Dear All,

We finished week 6 at Camp Heidelberg with a great, big Pokemon hunt.  Needless to say we caught many, many of them.  A great, big thank you goes out to Jessie for drawing the Pokemon on paper.(Despite of what she thinks, the drawings are fantastic! :))

We also finished our week long craft as well.  Our campers were incredibly creative, and so the craft turned out to be amazing.

Please see our week in pictures.

Hope to see you at Camp Heidelberg.

SHINKS, CHARMANDER OR PIKACHU? IT'S 'POKEMON GO' WEEK AT CAMP HEIDELBERG!! :)

Dear All,

We are continuing our fantastic summer at Camp Heidelberg with a 'Pokemon Go' week.  This week our aim is to play as many games as we can that involve Pokemon.

Yesterday, Tuesday, we played Pokemon 'Huckle/Buckle', and did a bit of Pokemon training as we played Pokemon Tic-Tac-Toe.  Today, Wednesday, we played a giant game of 'Water-type, Fire-type and Grass-type', and we trained our Pokemon this morning with an exciting game of Pokemon Ladders.

Our craft this week is a week-long craft, and involved the campers making their favourite Pokemon character using balloons, and paper mache.

Of course, we already played a variety of sports such as basketball, soccer and European dodgeball, and we also did archery.  Needless to say we are having so much fun at Camp Heidelberg.

ON THE MENU FOR THE REST OF THE WEEK - BERRY COBBLER, MINI PIZZAS AND GRILLED VEGGIES! :)

Dear All,

The rest of our week at the camp was just as exciting as Monday and Tuesdays were.  On Wednesday we made berry cobblers, which we started on the fire but finished in the over.  Today, Thursday, we made mini pizza - over the fire and on the BBQ.  On the menu tomorrow, we have grilled veggies in tinfoil, and hot dogs.  Needless to say, I think we had a great time preparing the food, and learned a few new tricks along the way as well.

Apart from cooking, we also played sports such as European handball, soccer, and basketball.  We also made a few interesting crafts, we included working with clay.  Today, Thursday, we also had a 'Tug of Rope' competition which was won by Jess' group.

After the long weekend, it's 'Pokemon Go' week at Camp Heidelberg.  Please visit our blog - or join us for the week - to see what we are up to! :)

Thank you for your support of our camp.

CAMPFIRE COOKING PART DEUX ... OOH LA LA! :)

Dear All,

This week at Camp Heidelberg we are cooking - again!!  This week we are preparing orange peel cinnamon buns, berry cobblers, mini pizzas and 'lunch in a tinfoil' ... all this, over the campfire. We would like to thank our volunteers Chris and Adam for helping.  A special 'thank you' goes out to Cole for being an all-around amazing helper as well.

Yesterday, on Monday, we learned about fire safety and we also learned how to start a campfire safely.  Today we made the orange peel cinnamon rolls - and they turned out to quite well.  Everyone loved the icing too! :)

Apart from cooking we also did archery, made amazing crafts, played basketball and soccer, and played an amazing round of 'The Cook's Relay'.  Greg's group won the relay, but all of the groups earned points for their efforts and participation.

Tomorrow, on Wednesday, we will start with a great round of 'Tug of War', and then we will make the berry cobbler, do archery, play sports and create a craft.

Please see below our week in pictures!

See you all at Camp Heidelberg.

OLYMPICS WEEK IN PICTURES!

Dear All,

Olympics week felt like watching the 100-meter hurdles at the Olympics: it went by super fast - and we had so much fun! :)

We played a number of amazing sports, such as lacrosse, soccer and basketball, and we also organized a few tournaments which enabled us to compete against each other.  Archery was a hit all week long, but that is not new at all! :)

We also made a number of amazing crafts as well.  And, on Thursday, our friends from the Department of Fine Arts at the University of Waterloo taught us how to make life-size robots out of cardboard.  Denise, Tim, Jess and Tara were so amazing and encouraging - and the robots turned out great! :) More information about SAIL (Student Art Innovation Lab) can be found at https://uwaterloo.ca/fine-arts/campus-art-galleries.  They also have a Twitter and Facebook page - just saying! :)

Not only did we enjoy a variety of sports, but we also checked out the wildlife around the camp. Some of us found some very unique insects! Please check out our photo 'gallery' below!

See you all at Camp Heidelberg,

IT'S OLYMPICS WEEK AT CAMP HEIDELBERG!

Dear All,

After our 'wild' adventures in the 'wilderness', we are enjoying 'Olympics' week at Camp Heidelberg!  The teams this week are 'The Ruthless Canadian Mavericks', the 'Lightning Scotts', 'The FUN Squad', and Team Canada.  Currently, the 'Lightning Scotts' are in the lead with 202 points.

Even though yesterday, Monday, the weather outside was not very pleasant, we tried to enjoy - and challenge - ourselves as much as possible.  In the morning we warmed up at the campfire, sang songs, did archery, and made name-tag medallions. In the afternoon, we completed the 'Great Big Camp Heidelberg' race.  All participants earned points for their teams.

Today, Tuesday, we got to know the counselors a bit better, and then the LIAs lead obstacle course-type of activities in the morning.  We also played basketball, sculpted a number of amazing crafts - including medallions - and did archery.  In the afternoon, we had a basketball tournament, a soccer-baseball game or two, and played camouflage in the forest.  Team 'RBG' came in first in the basketball tournament, followed by team 'Lime', and in the third place, we had the 'Raptors on Skateboards.'

We can't wait to continue our Olympic quest the rest of the week.

Hope to see you at Camp Heidelberg.

The Campers and the Staff :)
