CAN A STYROFOAM CUP HOLD A BOULDER; CAN WE BUILD A LATTICE DOME USING ONLY STICKS AND STRING??

Dear All,

Even though it's only Tuesday, we have already fully embraced our theme for the week at Camp Heidelberg.  Yesterday, we spent the day building weight-bearing structures, building the tallest free-standing structure, playing European Handball, refining our archery skills, and playing parachute games.  In the afternoon, we tested our weight-bearing structures, and to our delight, Styrofoam cups and popsicle sticks can in fact hold a relatively large bolder.  See our pictured below.

Today, Tuesday, the BUZZ is that we will be spending the day in the forest building lattice domes out of sticks and string.  Lattice domes - built out of simple materials - were used by pre-historic humans as shelters.  Let's see if we can built the domes - and, let's see how BIG of a dome we can build!

Please do not forget about the PARENT CHALLENGE!  Any comments - positive and constructive - are more than welcome.

Thank you for your continued support.

Teddy and the Camp Heidelberg Counselors :)
